Tejano music: Blending cultures makes one sweet sound


Chente Barrera grew up immersed in Tejano music – his father was a prolific singer who often brought his son along to gigs at weddings and quinceañeras. Barrera said he always knew he wanted to make music. At age 4 or 5, he started to play; when Barrera was 8 his father died, and he said he knew he had to carry on the legacy.
